Peds Rotation...24 hours a day

Just to jump start the blog back up..I'm in my 4th week of peds with Dr. Weinstein in Upland, the good things about the rotation: Khaleedah was there for the first three weeks, we have a chill intern Joseph from Chino Valley, the doctor takes us out to lunch everyday. But, its like I'm on call every night because I think I've had about 5 different bugs in 4 weeks, and even worse, so has the baby. I feel like I'm in a war zone of bacteria and viruses every time I walk into his office. So far the baby has had viral URI, mild croup, bacterial conjunctivits, otitis media, and then he just spiked a fever again tonight, even though he's currently taking Amoxicillin! yikes! There have been 3 times I've had to leave the rotation early to take the baby to his pediatrician. So peds is pretty much off my list..I just don't have the immune system to handle it. I had a patient last week who has to get IgG transfusions every 3 weeks, I was like, I'll sign up for any of the Ig's at this point! Now I just want a field that doesn't deal with contagious people, wish I would have thought of that before I requested infectious disease as my elective.
