so psych is out for me lol...which leaves obgyn and peds left for choices of a specialty....which means i'm probably gonna do FP unless obgyn or peds is AWESOME. I highly doubt that, plus i can get either one in an FP setting. :)
there's no way i could do psych for two major reasons. 1. i would miss medicine way too much, which i'm going through withdrawal now and 2. i internalize WAY too much and it just makes me depressed. i just feel too much i guess. like i can understand/accept why someone can have hypertension or heart disease or diabetes and why they would possibly be sick from that, but i can't accept people being molested and as a result have severe psychological problems/drug problems/behavioral problems....etc etc. it just makes me sad/mad. and i WANT to help, but i think i'd drown in it. just my 2 cents on psych. sorry katie, i just canna do it.
hope everyone is doing well. here's my heads up for psych:
I'm with Dr. Tran at ARMC. Quiet, soft spoken man who will teach you and ask you questions and make you work(i write 5 notes a day max and he makes you go w/ him on call til 9pm---triage is fun tho so it's ok).
Matt Young is w/ Dr. Lawrence, he has it pretty easy.
Heard Dr. Umwalla is cool and laid back, not much work.
It's all inpatient. All the patients are there on a hold for either danger to self, danger to others or grave disability. Patients come and go alot so you have a continuous flow of new patients.
